Here are some steps you can take to become a yacht captain: <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:43px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gaining maritime experience  <\/h2>\n\n<p>To become a yacht captain, you first need to gain experience: either, if you already own a boat, by stepping up the frequency of your sea outings and varying your sailing experiences, or by working for a few months on board different types of boats. You can start out as a sailor or deckhand to learn the rudiments of navigation, safety, maintenance and boat management.   <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:31px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The different captain&#8217;s licenses to comply with legislation<\/h2>\n\n<p>Yacht captains must hold a valid certificate issued by their country&#8217;s maritime authority.
