Le Ponant, the historic sailing ship of the company of the same name, gets a makeover<\/h1>\n\n

RENOVATED AND REDEVELOPED MARITIME INITIATIVE<\/p>\n\n

Thirty years after its launch, Le Ponant has just undergone a veritable “rejuvenation”. Completely renovated and refitted, the ship now accommodates around 30 passengers and as many crew members. Le Ponant, the historic sailboat of the company headquartered in Marseille, continues its commitment to more responsible tourism with this new phase. Its ambition is to reduce its emissions as much as possible through a number of commitments and initiatives: connection to the electricity grid in equipped ports, sailing, an innovative SCR filter system that eliminates fine particles and reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by 90%, selective waste sorting, and state-of-the-art wastewater treatment. <\/p>\n\n

As for the experiences offered to passengers, they have been designed with the preservation of the environment and heritage in mind: non-motorized nautical activities, individual or very small group disembarkations at ports of call – an approach as close as possible to the local heritage. Le Ponant has regained its splendor and more, while setting new standards in eco-responsible sailing,” says Ponant president Herv\u00e9 Gastinel. Aboard the jewel of our fleet, everyone can reconnect with nature, with their own inspirations, and live out their desires as the wind blows. This winter, the ship will set sail for the Seychelles, before heading for Australia’s Kimberley region in the spring of 2023. <\/p>\n\n
