1Are the Master 200 GT - 500 GT diplomas recognized in France?
Yes, they meet the STCW standard that France has signed up to. With these diplomas, you are authorized to sail in France, Europe, the Caribbean and DOM COM.
Details of sailing areas concerned To sail under the French flag, all you need to do is pass module NP1 (French legislation + sea report: 21h) and fill in form CERFA n°15333*03.

2What is the STCW standard?
The 1978 STCW Convention was the first international convention to establish basic requirements for seafarer training, certification and watchkeeping at international level.

3What are the limits of the Master 200 GT?
The Master 200 GT allows you to become Captain of a boat of around 24 m (200 UMS), limited to 30 minutes from a shelter.

The Master 500 GT allows you to captain a boat of up to 50 m (500 UMS), limited to 200 minutes from shelter.
5What are the limits of the Master 500 GT unlimited?
Like the Master 500 GT, the Master 500 GT Unlimited allows you to captain a boat of up to 50 m (500 UMS), with no coastal limits.
6Can I spread my The Yachter training over more than 6 months?
Yes, you can progress at your own pace. Training can be spread over a period of up to 2 years after registration.
7If I fail, can I retake the exam?
Every effort is made to ensure that candidates taking The Yachter course pass their exams.
Our trainers accompany you and only present you for the exam once they feel you are in a position to pass. This is why The Yachter boasts a 98% exam success rate.

8What would it cost to take the exam a second time?
The courses remain available on your learning space at no extra cost.
If you fail the theory test, the cost will be €1,200.
If you fail the practical test, the cost will be €500, including vessel hire, diesel fuel and time spent with the examiner.

9Can I work with other students taking the same diploma?
In fact, we strongly recommend it!

10Are there any face-to-face courses?
We limit the number of face-to-face courses to avoid any inconvenience.
Of course, the practical exam will always be taken face-to-face. An optional face-to-face module is offered 15 days before the exam. This 5-day module in Marseille is a mock exam during which our instructors offer 4 days of theory review and exercises and 1 day of practice on the same vessel you will be using for the exam (sail or power).

11Do you have partner centers to take the offshore license? CRO? CFBS ? CGO ?
Yes, our partner centers are fully conversant with The Yachtsman methodology, and will help you prepare for the final exam, which requires the offshore license, the CRO, the CFBS and the CGO, as well as the NP1 if you wish to sail under the French flag.
12Can I pay in instalments?
Yes, it is possible to pay for your course in 4 instalments.

You have to be of legal age to take The Yachter training course and pass the exam.

14What computer equipment do I need to access the courses?
All computers are compatible with our educational platform as long as they have Internet access.
15Why has The Yachter only been registered since 2022, when the training organization has been in existence since 2006?
The Yachter training course was created in 2016 under the approval number 93830642183.
It was in 2021 that Cédric Bourgat discovered The Yachter and joined the training course to take his Captain's certificate.
Enthused by the quality of his training and passionate about sailing, Cédric offered to buy The Yachter after obtaining his certificate.
On June 29, 2022, the company's status changed from Sole Proprietorship (Entreprise Individuelle - EI) to Simplified Joint Stock Company (Société par Actions Simplifiée - SAS). The Yachter is registered under the number 93132045713.
An association that enables us to offer The Yachter all the skills needed to ensure the highest quality of training for the students we accompany.
