The reference school for future Captains
Since 2016, The Yachter has established itself in the yachting industry as an alternative reference school for obtaining a Captain's certificate by distance learning. We support sailing enthusiasts who want to become professional yachtsmen and hold an official Captain's certificate to comply with the law.
The Yachter training course was created in 2016 under approval number: 93830642183. It was in 2021 that Cédric Bourgat discovered The Yachter and joined the training program to obtain his Captain's license. Enthused by the quality of his training and passionate about sailing, Cédric offered to buy The Yachter once he had obtained his certificate.
On June 29, 2022, the company changed its status from a sole proprietorship (Entreprise Individuelle - EI) to a simplified joint stock company (Société par Actions Simplifiée - SAS). The Yachter is then registered under the French approval number 93132045713.

FROM PASSIONATE TO TRAINER:
a journey guided by the sea
"Passionate about the Sea since childhood, equally at ease under sail or motor, I realized my dream at age 20 of living on my sailboat in Marseille's Old Port.
A regatta racer at heart, after crossing the Atlantic and exploring the West Indies, my children decided to turn to motor yachting.
In 2018, while having my motor boat built, I faced an obstacle: how do I legally sail as a skipper?
As the C200 was not suited to my professional situation at the time (compulsory classroom training for around 2 years + 6 months at ENIM), I discovered The Yachter and its STCW-compliant training. Thanks to The Yachter, I obtained my YC Master 200 GT certificate and my recognition visa, essential for working under the French flag.
Convinced by the effectiveness of the training, I took over The Yachter with Gaëlle Darmon to offer future Captains a rigorous and recognized apprenticeship."
