The meridian calculation is the most instructive. But it can only be done once a day, when the sun is at its zenith, i.e. on the meridian of the place where you are.
The calculations are simple and easy to understand.
In practice, however, it’s not the most effective.
Calculating with height lines involves geometric relationships and more complex calculations.
But by automating all the calculations, it’s the most widely used in practice once you’ve got it right. It can be done at any time
