After several years in the luxury catering industry, Anthony decided to reinvent his career by turning to the maritime sector. With the desire to combine passion and profession, he decided to join The Yachter to open a new chapter by training as a Master 200GT Captain.
He shares with us his background, his motivations and his feedback on the training.
Anthony’s testimonial
The Yachter : “What was your background as a sailor before training with The Yachter? “
Anthony: “My maritime career prior to the training course was exclusively in yachting.
The Yachter : ” What training did you receive at The Yachter? “
Anthony: “The Yachter enabled me to take the Master 200 GT Captain training course.”
The Yachter : “What motivated your desire/need to take the training courses at The Yachter? “
Anthony: ” After a career in luxury catering, which led me to become manager of a restaurant in Monaco, the need for a change became apparent as I approached forty. In order to combine my passion with my winter job as a ski instructor, I decided to turn to a maritime career. After extensive research on the Internet, I discovered this captain training school.”
The Yachter: “Why did you choose The Yachter and not another training organization?”
Anthony: “After several contacts with different training centers, The Yachter’s explanations and advice immediately convinced me to take a training course with them.”
The Yachter : “What are the 3 things you liked best about training at The Yachter? “
Anthony: “This training has given me a lot of knowledge (being a real ship’s captain, but also learning about crew briefings, meteorology, bridge management, safety, insurance etc.) as well as the opportunity to meet other incredible future captains.”

The Yachter : ” What did The Yachter training do for you in the next stage of your career? “
Anthony: “This training course enabled me to obtain the Master 200 GT Captain’s certificate, as well as the French recognition visa, which is essential for operating under the French flag. I was thus able to avoid the tedious administrative process of the French Captain 200, while still having a recognized certification.
Thanks to this qualification, I joined the Numarine brand and the crew of the Minella Numarine 30XP as second captain. I also had the opportunity to practice my new profession as captain on various vessels, both sailing, such as the Sun Odyssey 49, and motoring, such as the Pardo 50 and the Vanquish 43. These experiences have enabled me to sail under different registers, whether under the French flag or other STCW flags.”

Do you own a boat and want to comply with maritime regulations so you can sail with peace of mind? Or perhaps you dream of becoming a professional skipper and working in the yachting industry?
Are you considering a career change in the maritime sector, or do you simply want to acquire new skills to pilot higher category boats? Whatever your ambition, The Yachter can help you succeed!
Thanks to The Yachter’s e-learning courses to become a captain, you can pass a state-recognized STCW professional certificate while managing your own schedule.
